Weymouth’s “Go Spike” Weekend

Weymouth’s “Go Spike” weekend was blessed with some very warm weather which was appreciated by the players.

The tournament was supported mainly by local players who entertained the vast number of people on the beach with some very competitive volleyball.

As the tournament finished people were queuing up to gain access to the courts.

Notable events during the afternoon saw the return to the beach of Pete Bennett & Graeme Sawyer; they managed to fight their way through to the semi final.

IN the skills event the present records are;-

Graeme Sawyer   Challenge 8                “Keepy Uppy”              167

Martin O’Neil      Challenge 1                “Timed Volley”                60     (But he forgot his partner)

Elliott Sawyer     Challenge 10      “Dig and catch behind”          2nd attempt.

The tournament was eventually won by James Taggett & Russell Laming who beat Jaffa Williams & Elliott Sawyer in very competitive final by 23 points to 21.
