COVID UPDATE

After yesterday’s announcement from the Government we now have a first step  for Beach Volleyball to return. We have read the guidance from Volleyball England and consulted with Weymouth Town Council. The following will be the first step for volleyball on Weymouth Beach and can commence from now:.

Step 1

A temporary court can be erected on the beach after 6pm and as long as the beach is not crowded.
Play can be 2 v 2 ( no more than this)
This court can only be used for training or for matches .
Groups at the court should  not be bigger than 6 people
At all times social distancing must be maintained.
Balls must be regularly cleaned,
Hand sanitizer should be regularly used.
All equipment should be cleaned thoroughly before and after use.
Tournament play is not allowed
At the present time it is not possible to put up the Summer permanent courts on the beach.  Firstly as the courts  cannot be supervised at all times and therefore we cannot ensure Volleyball England guidance is followed. Secondly the Council are concerned that there should be as much room as possible on the beach for social distancing during hotter weather.

The guidance does not allow for Tournament play at the current time so at the moment the Tuesday Evening Summer Series cannot return yet..
