COVID-19 UPDATE AUGUST
We have met with the WTC this morning and looked at the possibility of taking the next steps to return to Beach Volleyball in Weymouth.
Unfortunately we have agreed that no further progress can be made at the moment and therefore we will not be holding a local event on a weekend in September as we had hoped. It also means that there will be no change to the guidance from July which prevents organised events/ competitions at any time on Weymouth Beach.
1.This is because WTC believe that if the weather is good the beach could be as crowded in September as it is at the present time and therefore there will not be sufficient space for social distancing.
2.To hold an organised / competitive event to stay within Volleyball England guidance we must barrier off the whole area ( with a minimum of crowd control barriers)
3. Plus all other covid guidelines would obviously need to be followed. i.e entries online, a limit of 14 teams in total etc etc
All this makes an event impractical
The guidance issued in July for a small group of individuals remains but any players must remember they are acting as individuals not part of any group or organisation.
We now plan to a return to Beach Volleyball in Weymouth in March 2021 when we hope the permanent courts will go up! We then already have a lot of exciting plans to take volleyball in Weymouth to the next level.
BACK STRONGER!
